Mohammed Aslam, AKA Asi Aslam, Guilty of sexual assault.
A former Pather shopkeeper has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in Wishaw town centre.
Mohammed Aslam, 48, who previously worked at Day-Today on Caledonian Road, stood trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court accused of a string of sordid charges.
The jury found Aslam guilty of sexually assaulting a woman by repeatedly cuddling her and repeatedly kiss her on the cheek, pulling his trousers and underwear down and exposing his buttocks between August 9, 2016 and September 1, 2016 at Wishaw Chiropractic, Main Street.
One Pather resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I was horrified when I heard what had happened. This is very alarming. There’s a school across the road and lots of children use the shop. I hope never to see him working in there again.”
Aslam was found not guilty of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices towards a 15-year-old girl and attempting to kiss her, seize her by the hair, pull her towards him, forcibly kiss her on the lips and handle her breast between January 1, 2009, and February 28, 2009 at Cambusnethan Street, Wishaw.
He was acquitted of conducting himself in a disorderly manner, shouting, swearing and uttering threats towards a 15-year-old girl on April 20, 2009 at Bobby’s Newsagents, Cambusnethan Street.
He was also acquitted of sexually assaulting a woman by pulling her top down and exposing her breasts, placing her breast in his mouth and biting it on October 12, last year at Day Today store in Caledonian Road.
As an alternative to custody, Sheriff Allan McKay imposed a community payback order with a supervision requirement for two years.
He is ordered to attend a sex offenders programme as directed by his supervising officer.
He was also ordered to pay £1000 compensation to his victim.
