Sentence 2012…

Former Norwich company director from North Walsham jailed for possessing indecent images

October 2012

A former company director in Norwich who claims to be addicted to porn has been jailed for 16 months after he admitted making and possessing indecent images of children.

Peter Jones, 51, of Pound Road, North Walsham, had already been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register nine years ago , after being sent to jail for 12 months for similar offences .

But when police carried out a check they found that Jones, a former director of Heritage Legal and Financial Services , in Hellesdon Park Road, Norwich, had downloaded material on his computer at work and also was found to have accessed images on his computer at home, Norwich Crown Court heard.

Richard White, prosecuting said that there were also two images of extreme porn.

The court heard earlier how Jones was a director of Heritage Legal and Financial Services when the offences came to light and after his previous offending had even been on a course to try to help him not re-offend.

Jailing him, Judge Nicholas Coleman told him that in his case it was clear that he had an “obsession or an addiction” to pornographic material and had even attended an internet sex offender’s treatment programme.

“It was intended to address your problem and to provide you with the appropriate strategies.”

He added: “That clearly did not work.”

He said offences of this kind caused untold misery and said “Your lust is no excuse.”

He added: “The obsession that you have is a very difficult one to inhibit.”

He made Jones, who is already on the Sex Offenders’ Register, also subject to a sexual offences prevention order under which he must not use the internet to access any indecent images and also banned him from working with children.

Silas Reid, for Jones, said: “He is a man who effectively has an addiction to pornography.”

He said that if given the chance Jones would like further treatment to help him stop his addiction and had the support of his wife.

“This is a last chance for him.”

Guilt….

Former Norwich company director admits possessing indecent images of children.

July 2012.

A sex offender and former company director in Norwich has pleaded guilty to 12 counts of making or possessing indecent images of children.

Peter Jones, 51, from Pound Road, North Walsham, was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register nine years ago, after being sent to jail for 12 months for similar offences.

The former director at Heritage Legal and Financial Services in Hellesdon Park Road, Norwich, appeared before Norwich magistrates yesterday, and was committed to the crown court for sentencing.

Prosecutor Denis King said six of the charges Jones pleaded guilty to related to images found on his work computer, while another six were taken from his personal computer at his home address. Jones also admitted two other counts of possession of extreme pornographic images portraying sex with animals.

Mr King said Jones was a director of Heritage Legal and Financial Services when the offences came to light in December last year. He said: “Police removed a computer from his work address containing 24 deleted indecent images of children containing six at level 1, one at level 2, seven at level 3 and 10 at level 4, where level 5 is the most serious. They also found seven deleted images of an extreme pornographic nature.

“Jones was arrested on March 26 and taken to Aylsham police centre where he denied making the images. He suggested somebody from the company may have planted the material on his computer.

“A search at his home address was then carried out and 23 deleted indecent images of children were found including 16 at level 1, three at level 2 and four at level 4, together with two deleted images of an extreme pornographic nature. He was charged on July 5.”

The court was told that in March 2003 Jones was convicted of a number of similar offences and was jailed for 12 months, and placed on the Sex Offender’s Register for 10 years, until April 2013.

For Jones, Silas Reid said: “Mr Jones has a long-standing addiction to pornography and child pornography. Matters have been put in place to help him with this addiction.”

Jones was released on conditional bail and will be sentenced at a later date at Norwich crown court.
