Jail for sex offender filmed on mobile phone with hands down trousers in Wrexham.
A SERIAL sex offender with his hands down his trousers had been filmed by a disgusted onlooker on a mobile phone.
Caernarfon Crown Court heard this yesterday when Peter Steinitz, 61, whose previous home had been a guest house at Wrexham and was remanded in custody, was jailed for 20 months. He admitted outraging public decency and breaching a sexual harm prevention order at Wrexham.
Judge Huw Rees said there was nothing trivial about his revolting behaviour. He’d made highly inappropriate comments about the effect pretty girls had on him.
The judge told him: “You have a long and disturbing history of sexual offences and struggle to offer an explanation.”
Prosecutor James Coutts said Steinitz had sat down next to a group of women and there was CCTV and mobile phone footage of him. The defendant had 106 offences on his record.
Judge Rees remarked: “Since the mid 90s this defendant has been convicted of indecent exposure with intent to cause distress or exposure, gross indecency and breaches of various sexual offences prevention orders.”
He’d had “opportunity after opportunity” to address his behaviour.
Defence counsel Mark Connor said Steinitz had written a letter expressing his remorse and shame. “He wishes me to apologise to the victims and to the court for this reprehensible behaviour,” counsel added. “He’s been addicted to drugs for all his adult life.”
