A man who raped a woman after she told him she did not want to have sex with him has been jailed for five years.
Dean Peacock, of Campbell Close, Worksop, had denied that the rape, which happened in April 2016, but was found guilty after a trial and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, April 11.
The court heard that the victim was scared of the 31-year-old and kept telling him that she did not want to have sex with him.
Peacock was also made subject of an indefinite restraining order.
Detective Inspector Ash Wilson hopes the sentence reflects how seriously Nottinghamshire Police takes all reports of rape and sexual abuse.
He said: “We encourage anyone who has been a victim of a rape of sexual assault – whether it is a recent or non-recent offence – to come forward and report it to us.
“Rape can happen to anyone. Some victims mistakenly think they are to blame, or fear they won’t be taking seriously by police or that their integrity will be questioned. Others remain silent out of fear of repercussions from their attacker.
