The couple deny charges of outraging public decency and indecent assault, including one occasion where an alleged victim was approached as he looked for a lost golf ball.

Miranda Moore QC, prosecuting, told Warwick Crown Court : “Our case is that, not only did they have sex in the open, they did it knowing and taking delight in the fact that young lads were watching, and they encouraged the young lads to view the sexual encounters.

“The boys at the time were all too young by law to be participants in any sort of sexual activity.

“Julie would encourage one of the boys at a time to engage in sexual activity.

The boys, who were mostly aged around 14, were encouraged to watch and were also invited by Mrs Wadsworth, 60, to join in with her Ms Moore said.

The presenters, of Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, are accused of numerous sexual encounters involving two different groups of boys.

The court heard details of an alleged incident in 1992 when the couple had sex against a tree in full view of a group of boys.

Julie Wadsworth and her husband Tony used to present BBC WM shows.
Mrs Wadsworth said to them: “If you come back next week you can join in”, jurors were told.

Two of the boys returned the following week and Mrs Wadsworth performed sex acts on them, in turn, while wearing a trench coat, described as a ‘flashers mac’ by a victim, white high heeled shoes and white stockings.

Ms Moore said: “She had sexual activity with these young boys again and again.

“He must have realised exactly what his wife was up to.

“He was there, positioned close enough to be seen and close enough to warn.

“Sometimes it was he who called a halt – he was effectively calling the shots.”

On one occasion, the court heard, an alleged victim was “spooked” by Mr Wadsworth, 69, standing nearby with a camera around his neck.

Jurors were told Mrs Wadsworth told her husband to “go away for a walk” and then performed a sex act on the youngster.

Mrs Wadsworth is further accused of having sex with one of the boys in the lounge of her house.

Ms Moore said there were ten to 15 encounters between Mrs Wadsworth and the boy, some of which went on to involve her husband.

The meet-ups happened both before and after the boy turned 16, the prosecution said.

Ms Moore said Mrs Wadsworth had admitted during police interview to having sex with her husband in public, which she described as “outdoor hanky panky”.

She also told officers the outdoor sex had “spiced up their sex life” but she denied ever having any sexual activity with children.

Mr Wadsworth provided a prepared written statement at police interview, in which he denied all of the offences.

Ms Moore said the alleged offences came to light in 2015 when one of the victims went on a child protection course as part of his job.

She said more men came forward about earlier alleged incidents, following press coverage of the first set of charges.

Julie Wadsworth denies five charges of outraging public decency and 12 of indecent assault.
